COBALT activities

European-wide Conferences

The opening and the closing conference enable knowledge exchange and debate on current challenges and future options regarding the sustainable management of raw materials in Europe and beyond. Both will take place in Brussels.

• Documentation of the COBALT opening conference "Industry and Society’s needs for sustainable management of raw materials in Europe: Exploring solutions for future action" (28-29 November 2013 in Brussels)

• COBALT closing conference "Sustainable raw materials management in Europe – Fostering stakeholder dialogue to deliver on the future" (23-24 March 2015 in Brussels)

EU and Regional Dialogues

Three European and three regional dialogues provide the opportunity to discuss specific and topical issues more in-depth between industry and civil society stakeholders. The regional events will take place in the 'Eastern Europe', 'Iberian Peninsula' and 'North Sea' regions.

• 3rd EU Dialogue on "Raw material scarcity in Europe: stakeholder collaboration to achieve a transparent and accountable supply chain" (Brussels, 11 February 2015)

Regional Dialogues:

• Documentation of the 1st Regional Dialogue on "Sustainable raw materials management and circular economy in the Iberian Peninsula: the role of industry and consumers in optimizing the raw materials value chain" (Madrid, 12 June 2014)

• Documentation of the 2nd Regional Civil Society-Industry Dialogue "Towards sustainable mineral production - The role of industry and civil society" (Copenhagen, 8 October 2014)

• 3rd Regional Civil Society-Industry Dialogue "The role of civil society and industry in driving a sustainable production and consumption" (Bucharest, 27 November 2014)

Tackling skills shortages

We identify existing skills shortages among different stakeholder groups and develop syllabi and courses to increase capacity for sustainable raw materials management.

Web-platform

The COBALT website provides all necessary information on the project and its activities. It will foster information exchange and networking among stakeholder groups by providing interactive formats and databases.
